We had an early bus to Wanaka today. Had a few change of plan. Instead of two nights in Wanaka, we chose plan B which is cancelled a night in Wanaka but another night in Queenstown. The bus departed to Wanaka early 8 o’clock in the morning. Have to change bus at Cromwell at 11 something. Arrived at Wanaka YHA during lunch time. We had a bit of rest and lunch before walking our way to the Stuart Landsborough’s Puzzling World. Seriously it was like 4 kilometres away from our place and we just walked. Suddenly it was raining, but not heavily. We did bring with us an umbrella. But overall, the weather was just fine. Not too cold and not too hot. There were still suns shining brightly. Beautiful scenery we passed by the famous Lake Wanaka. The stunning crystal clear lake with backdrops of snow-capped peaks behind, look so pretty. You just can’t imagine it. You have to see it for yourself!

Arrived safely at the Puzzling World around 2:30 pm. There they have “The Great Maze” which is the first of the world’s “modern-style” great mazes. It is two storeys high and has 1.5 kilometres of confusing passages. The “Puzzling World” is full of eccentric shaped buildings and puzzling rooms. Some are world unique and the others could be world best! I was amazed by the “Ames Forced Perspective Room". The technique of this illusion was used in “The Lord of the Rings” film to create tall people and little people. The shape of this room is totally distorted although when viewed from outside through a window, the room looks normal yet the people inside look either very tall or very short! That is so brilliant. One more is the “Illusion Tilted House” The room is tilted at an angle of fifteen degrees. All the displays inside are normal yet when you enter the room the illusion is so strong that your brain is convinced the room cannot be sloping. The brain straightens up the room at the expense of the displays that seem to hang at impossible angles. We had some pictures taken in there.

We met a Malaysian family whom had been studying at Otago Uni while we were there. We stopped by Subway on our way home. We were craving for it. Marvelous! It was a very long and tiring day for us. Mynn was actually not feeling very well though. But we managed to get the spirit back.
